6 Month Smiles FAQ

What is the 6 Month Smiles system?

The 6 Month Smiles system is an orthodontic treatment which uses fixed braces to create beautiful, straight smiles in only six months. In the majority of cases fixed braces take 12, 24 or even 36 months to align the teeth into the desired position, and so this treatment is a great option for patients visiting London 6 Month Smiles Clinic.

How do the braces work so fast?

Six Month Smile braces promise quick results because they treat only the front teeth. The braces also use the latest technology, including specially-designed titanium-nickel wires, to move the teeth as quickly and comfortably as possible.

How long is the treatment time?

In the vast majority of cases treatment is complete within six months. Treatment may be longer in some cases but this is not common.

Will there be any pain?

Six Month Smile braces will take a small amount of time to get used to, like all other orthodontic devices, but they are in general considered to be comfortable. The brackets are smaller than traditional braces and use friction-free technology in combination with low pressure forces to eliminate any symptoms of pain.

Will I need to use a retainer after treatment?

As with all orthodontic treatments we advise patients to wear a retainer after treatment. This will help to keep the teeth in position and prevent relapse.

Will the braces be visible?

The braces will be visible but the wires and brackets are tooth coloured for discretion. The braces offer a great level of discretion than conventional metal braces.

Who is suitable for 6 Month Smile braces?

Six Month Smile braces are ideal for patients who have minor orthodontic irregularities, including:

  • Crowding
  • Spaces between the teeth
  • Minor misalignment
  • Crooked teeth

This treatment is especially beneficial for patients who are looking to achieve results quickly.

Will there be any difference to my speech?

Your speech may be mildly affected for a short period of time as you get used to wearing the braces. This is only a short-term occurrence and your speech will return to normal very quickly.
